Introduction to Microsoft Access

Requirements:

Familiar with Windows, no previous Access experience necessary.

Duration:

2 Half Day Sessions

Cost:

£160.00 plus VAT one-to-one with reductions for group
training.

Course Materials:

Handbooks provided for each trainee.

Further Training:

3rd Session available covering Further Features at £70.00 plus VAT one-to-one with reductions for group training, which can be followed by one-to-one sessions at £30.00 plus VAT per hour on an Address your Requirements basis.

  • Getting Started
    • Database philosophy - fields, records, etc
    • Getting around - relational database aspects, the Access window
      Managing files - new and existing databases
  • Starting the Database
    • Creating the first table
    • Modifying the table design - updating and adding fields
    • Creating a basic data entry form
    • First look at form design
  • Adding Records
    • Entering data
    • Editing data - deleting, copying and moving
    • Modifying the table layout - column widths, formatting, hiding columns, etc
  • Establishing a Relationship
    • Creating another table
    • Establish a relationship between the two tables
    • Creating a customised data entry form for the new table
    • Entering more data
    • Introduction to sub forms

  • Sorting, Finding and Filtering Records
    • Sorting data
    • Finding data
    • Using filters to find data
  • Working with Queries
    • Creating a query from a filter
    • Creating new queries
    • Setting criteria and creating calculated fields
  • Developing the Database Further
    • Deriving tables and forms from existing ones
    • Creating the final table and data entry form
    • Completing the relationship between all the tables
    • Setting up further queries
  • Producing a Printed Output
    • Creating a basic report
    • Printing the report
